The beloved blue bird that once symbolized Twitter has officially found a new home, fetching an impressive $34,375 at auction. The sign, which once graced Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters, was part of a memorabilia sale held months after Elon Musk rebranded the platform to X.
The auction, conducted by RR Auction, featured the 254-kilogram sign measuring 12 feet by 9 feet. While the identity of the winning bidder remains undisclosed, the sale highlights the nostalgia and historical significance of Twitter’s original branding.
This isn’t the first time Musk has put Twitter-related assets under the hammer. Previously, he auctioned off a range of office furniture, kitchen equipment, and other memorabilia as part of his broader restructuring efforts following the platform’s acquisition.
The sale of the Twitter logo was just one of several tech collectibles that drew significant attention at the auction. A rare Apple-1 computer sold for a staggering $375,000, while an Apple check signed by Steve Jobs in 1976 fetched $112,054. A first-generation iPhone (4GB), still sealed, also commanded an impressive $87,514.
With Twitter’s past slowly fading into history under Musk’s leadership, the auction of its iconic bird logo marks the end of an era. However, for collectors and tech enthusiasts, owning a piece of Silicon Valley history remains a prized opportunity.
