Renewable energy solutions provider Suzlon Group has clinched a major deal, securing a 642-megawatt wind power project from ABC Cleantech Private Limited (ACPL), an Evren company. Evren, a joint venture between Brookfield and Axis Energy in India, is dedicated to advancing the country’s green energy initiatives.
Under the agreement, Suzlon will deploy 214 wind turbine generators (WTGs), featuring a Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) tower and a rated capacity of 3 megawatts each, in Andhra Pradesh. This strategic move aligns with Suzlon’s commitment to collaborating with Evren, contributing to the expansion of their green energy portfolios and supporting India’s renewable energy objectives.
Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Suzlon is committed to partnering with Evren to enhance their green energy portfolios while helping advance India’s renewable energy goals.”
Evren, launched by Brookfield as a development platform in India through a collaboration with Axis Energy, aims to build over 6 gigawatts of renewable energy assets in resource-rich states over the next 2-3 years.
JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group, commented on the significance of this collaboration, saying, “We are happy to announce our first order with Evren.” The project’s scale is expected to provide electricity to approximately 528,000 households and reduce around 2.087 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
As part of the comprehensive agreement, Suzlon will handle the supply of wind turbines, undertake installation and commissioning for the project, and provide ongoing operations and maintenance services post-commissioning.
Suman Kumar, CEO of Evren, expressed delight about partnering with Suzlon Energy for this significant project, highlighting their shared commitment to developing and operating a high-quality clean energy portfolio in India.
Suzlon’s turbines, equipped with the proven Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) technology, seamlessly integrate wind energy into the utility network to meet grid requirements. This project stands as a testament to Suzlon’s dedication to advancing renewable energy solutions and contributing to India’s sustainable energy future.
