Suzlon, a leading provider of renewable energy solutions, has clinched a significant contract for a 30 MW wind power project from EDF Renewables, signaling a milestone achievement in India’s renewable energy landscape.

Under the agreement, Suzlon will deploy 10 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) featuring Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) towers, each boasting a rated capacity of 3 MW, in Gujarat, as confirmed in a statement released by the company.

The project encompasses a comprehensive scope of services, including supply, supervision, commissioning, post-commissioning, and maintenance, further enhancing Suzlon’s commitment to delivering holistic solutions across the renewable energy value chain.

JP Chalasani, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, expressed pride in securing the order from EDF Renewables, a globally renowned power company with a distinguished track record in renewable energy initiatives. Chalasani emphasized the significance of collaboration with such a reputable partner, underscoring Suzlon’s continued dedication to advancing sustainable energy solutions.

Arne Lorenzen, Chief Executive Officer of EDF Renewables India, echoed Chalasani’s sentiments, highlighting the strategic importance of leveraging Suzlon’s extensive experience and expertise in the Indian wind market. Lorenzen emphasized EDF Renewables’ commitment to expanding its clean energy portfolio in India, foreseeing a prosperous partnership with Suzlon in the years ahead.

The electricity generated from the project will be channeled to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL), contributing to the region’s energy grid and powering over 24 thousand households. Additionally, the project is projected to mitigate over 97 thousand tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, further underlining its significance in combating climate change and promoting sustainability.

The collaboration between Suzlon and EDF Renewables marks a significant step forward in India’s renewable energy journey, reaffirming the country’s commitment to achieving its ambitious clean energy targets and fostering a greener, more sustainable future for generations to come.
