State Bank of India’s Chairman, Dinesh Kumar Khara, expressed optimistic sentiments regarding the 7.3% growth estimate for India in FY24, deeming it a highly positive indicator for the country’s economic trajectory. Speaking to PTI during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, Khara highlighted the present economic climate as notably encouraging.
The National Statistical Office (NSO) recently released advanced estimates projecting a real GDP growth of 7.3% for FY24. This estimation stands significantly higher than earlier forecasts, which had suggested an expansion of less than 6.5%. Notably, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) revised its estimate upward last month, setting it at 7%, an adjustment it characterized as “conservative.”
Amid a silent period for the bank, Khara refrained from commenting on the business outlook for the country’s largest lender.
Regarding expectations from the upcoming Union Budget, Khara indicated that it is likely to be a vote on account, suggesting that major policy decisions should not be anticipated within the document.
The optimistic outlook aligns with the recent positive projections for India’s economic growth, reflecting confidence in the country’s potential for robust expansion in the fiscal year ahead.
Stay tuned for further developments as the country navigates its economic landscape.
