Bengaluru has added another feather to its cap as Rolls-Royce, the iconic luxury automobile manufacturer and global power systems leader, inaugurated its largest Global Capability and Innovation Centre (GCC) in the city on Wednesday.
The state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated by Karnataka’s Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil, who hailed the move as a major boost to Karnataka’s position as India’s leading hub for aerospace, defence, and advanced engineering.
“Bengaluru ranks among the world’s top three aerospace cities for attracting foreign investments,” Patil said. “Our state hosts companies with strengths across the entire aerospace and defence value chain.”
Highlighting Karnataka’s thriving ecosystem, Patil pointed out contributions from industry leaders such as Aequs and Collins Aerospace in power systems and propulsion, Wipro and Mahindra Aerospace in structural and mechanical components, and global giants like Boeing, Airbus, and Pixxel in specialised technologies. End-to-end manufacturing is also being driven by companies like Sarla and Tata Advanced Systems.
Patil also underlined Karnataka’s Aerospace and Defence Policy, which offers attractive incentive packages for investors and fosters collaboration between research institutions, global companies, and local start-ups. “This collaborative ecosystem enables us to deliver world-class solutions to the world,” he said, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to supporting technology and manufacturing of global relevance.
The launch event was also attended by Lindy Cameron, British High Commissioner to India, and Helen McCabe, Global CFO of Rolls-Royce, marking the strategic importance of the new centre in powering Rolls-Royce’s global businesses from India.
With this expansion, Rolls-Royce strengthens its presence in India and further cements Bengaluru’s reputation as a global leader in aerospace and advanced engineering innovation.
