Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, the telecom and digital services powerhouse and a key player in India’s dynamic telecommunications sector, has announced a robust financial performance for the fiscal third quarter, showcasing a 12.3% surge in net profit to ₹5,208 crore. The impressive growth was propelled by substantial subscriber additions and solid operational metrics.
The telecom giant reported a 10.3% increase in revenue from operations, reaching ₹25,368 crore during the quarter ended December 31. Reliance Jio’s subscriber base witnessed a noteworthy addition of 11.2 million users in the same period, bringing the total user count to an impressive 470.9 million.
The company’s Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) recorded a commendable 12% rise, highlighting the efficiency and profitability of its operations.
Reliance Jio’s performance is particularly significant as it reflects a strategic focus on enhancing user growth. The introduction of a budget-friendly 4G phone and the wireless broadband service, Jio AirFiber, contributed to the steady increase in subscriber numbers.
In a regulatory filing on Friday, Reliance Jio disclosed that its standalone net profit for the December quarter marked a 12.3% growth compared to the previous year, where it stood at ₹4,638 crore. The profit growth trajectory, though slightly moderated from the previous quarters, underscores the resilience and sustained profitability of the company.
The revenue growth of 10.3% in the third quarter reverses a trend of five consecutive quarters of slowing growth, showcasing Reliance Jio’s ability to adapt to market dynamics and meet the evolving demands of consumers.
While total expenses increased by just under 10%, aligning closely with the revenue growth, the telecom giant maintained a strong financial position. The detailed results, including subscriber additions and Average Revenue Per User (ARPU), a crucial metric for telecom companies, will be disclosed along with the results of Reliance Industries, Jio’s parent company, later on Friday.
Market analysts anticipate that Jio’s ARPU may have increased by approximately 2% sequentially, reaching 185 rupees in the quarter, according to Ambit Capital.
Reliance Jio’s consistent financial performance underscores its strategic positioning and adaptability in the competitive telecommunications landscape, reaffirming its status as a key player in India’s digital revolution.
