Ayodhya, the sacred city with immense cultural and spiritual significance, is set to witness a surge in pilgrim tourism with the forthcoming inauguration of the Ram Temple on January 22, 2024. Anticipating the increased demand for accommodation, hospitality tech giant OYO has stepped in, launching 65 homestays and hotels in Ayodhya.

The newly introduced properties comprise 51 OYO homestays and 14 hotels, strategically positioned to cater to the needs of pilgrims and tourists. OYO’s budget-friendly rooms are available at prices starting from Rs 1,000 per night, making them accessible to a broad spectrum of visitors.

Recognizing the importance of catering to diverse needs, OYO has identified 15 OYO homestays in Ayodhya with ramps to facilitate convenient access for divyang (handicap) devotees. The company has aligned its expansion strategy with the objective of empowering local communities and showcasing Ayodhya’s rich cultural heritage through authentic experiences.

In a collaborative effort to ensure seamless operations, OYO has entered into partnerships with the Ayodhya Development Authority and the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation. The properties were inaugurated jointly by key figures, including UP Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak, BJP National General Secretary B L Santosh, UP Minister for Tourism & Culture Jaiveer Singh, and state Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi.

Brijesh Pathak expressed delight over OYO’s expansion in Ayodhya, emphasizing that the newly inaugurated properties would bolster accommodation capacity and enhance the overall experience for pilgrims. He acknowledged OYO’s focus on local homestays as aligning with the mission to empower Ayodhya’s residents and showcase the city’s cultural heritage.

This move by OYO comes in line with its broader plans to establish 400 properties in major spiritual destinations, including Ayodhya, Puri, Shirdi, Varanasi, Amritsar, Tirupati, Haridwar, Katra-Vaishno Devi, and the Char Dham route by the end of the year.

As Ayodhya prepares for the historic consecration ceremony, OYO’s contribution to the city’s hospitality landscape is poised to play a crucial role in accommodating the influx of devotees and tourists.
