Maruti Suzuki Recalls Over 2,000 Alto K10 Vehicles Due to Steering Defect

Maruti Suzuki India, the nation’s largest automaker, announced on August 7 that it is recalling 2,555 Alto K10 vehicles to address a potential defect in the steering gearbox assembly. The company disclosed that the issue, while rare, could impact the vehicle’s steerability, prompting an urgent recall.

    A Precautionary Measure

Maruti Suzuki emphasized that the recall is a precautionary step, advising owners of the affected Alto K10 models not to drive or use their vehicles until the defective part is replaced. “Out of abundant caution, customers of the affected vehicles are advised not to drive or use the vehicle till the part is replaced,” the company stated in an official filing.

    Customer Support and Free Repairs

The carmaker assured customers that Maruti Suzuki’s authorized dealer workshops will proactively reach out to the owners of the affected vehicles. These workshops will conduct a thorough inspection and replace the faulty steering gearbox assembly at no cost to the customer. This initiative underscores Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.

    Previous Recalls for Safety

This recall follows a similar action earlier this year when Maruti Suzuki recalled 11,851 units of the Baleno and 4,190 units of the WagonR, manufactured between July 30, 2019, and November 1, 2019. The issue at that time was linked to a potential defect in the fuel pump motor, which, in rare cases, could lead to engine stalling or starting issues.

    Ensuring Safety and Reliability

The recurring recalls highlight Maruti Suzuki’s proactive approach to vehicle safety and reliability. By addressing potential issues before they escalate, the company aims to maintain its reputation as a trusted brand in the Indian automotive market.
