    Mahindra & Tata Motors Achieve Record Patent Approvals in Fiscal Year 2024

    In a testament to their commitment to innovation and technological advancement, leading Indian automobile manufacturers Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors have secured a remarkable number of patent approvals during the fiscal year 2023-24. Both companies have demonstrated their prowess in product and process innovation, underscoring their dedication to staying ahead in the rapidly evolving automotive landscape.

    Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) achieved a milestone by securing 674 patent approvals during the last financial year, marking its highest-ever annual performance in terms of patents. Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director & CEO of M&M’s Auto & Farm Sectors, emphasized the company’s strategic focus on R&D investments to ensure technological superiority. M&M’s patent portfolio encompasses a diverse range of areas, including powertrain, vehicle mechanical systems, electronics, manufacturing processes, electric tractors, and advanced engineering.

    With a cumulative total of 1,185 patents across multiple geographies and 193 patent applications awaiting approval as of March 31, 2024, Mahindra & Mahindra continues to drive innovation across various automotive domains, positioning itself as a pioneer in the industry.

    Similarly, Tata Motors also celebrated its highest-ever grant of 333 patents during FY24, further solidifying its position as a frontrunner in automotive excellence. In addition to patents, Tata Motors filed 222 patents and 117 design applications during the fiscal year, reflecting its robust focus on innovation and design.

    Rajendra Petkar, President & Chief Technology Officer of Tata Motors, highlighted the company’s relentless pursuit of automotive innovation, particularly in addressing key industry trends such as connectivity, electrification, sustainability, and safety. The patents obtained by Tata Motors span a wide spectrum of product and process innovations, encompassing critical vehicle systems like powertrain, suspension, brakes, and emission control.

    Amidst the evolving landscape of mobility, both Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors remain at the forefront of shaping a smarter, more connected future for the automotive industry. Their groundbreaking innovations underscore their unwavering commitment to driving technological progress and delivering cutting-edge solutions that meet the evolving needs of customers worldwide.
