Aerospace and defense manufacturing startup Jeh Aerospace has successfully raised $2.75 million in seed funding through a strategic partnership with venture capital firm General Catalyst. The funding round also witnessed participation from industry veterans, including Pratyush (Prat) Kumar, former president of Boeing India, and Dwarakanath Srinivasan, former CEO and MD of Airbus India, who contributed as angel investors.
Co-founded by Vishal R Sanghavi, former COO of Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited, and Venkatesh Mudragalla, former senior executive at Tata Sikorsky Aerospace Limited, Jeh Aerospace specializes in providing manufacturing solutions to the aerospace and defense (A&D) industry. The startup utilizes scalable facilities and vetted supplier networks to address the manufacturing needs of the A&D sector.
The funds raised will be channeled towards building essential infrastructure, fostering growth, and assembling a dynamic team to revolutionize the supply chain experience for global aerospace customers. This strategic funding comes at a crucial time as the aerospace industry faces significant challenges related to complexity, geopolitical factors, supply chain disruptions, and workforce constraints.
Jeh Aerospace aims to play a pivotal role in resolving these constraints by introducing contemporary digital and AI technology and harnessing India’s full potential for A&D manufacturing. The company envisions creating reliable, responsive, and resilient supply chains by leveraging India’s capabilities, capacities, and cost competitiveness.
The co-founders, Vishal R Sanghavi and Venkatesh Mudragalla, expressed their excitement about the company’s upcoming journey and the support received from investors. With a presence in both the U.S. and India, Jeh Aerospace is strategically positioned to address the challenges faced by the global aerospace and defense industry.
According to the co-founders, the current landscape presents both challenges and opportunities for the industry. While demand has surged post-COVID, the supply side is constrained. Jeh Aerospace aims to alleviate industry pain by improving delivery and supporting the growth needs of global customers.
General Catalyst partner Anand Chandrasekaran commended Jeh Aerospace for its ambitious drive, commitment to excellence, and dedication to responsible innovation. He highlighted the startup’s strategic focus on addressing critical challenges faced by Tier-2 and Tier-3 aerospace suppliers in the U.S. by leveraging India’s dynamic labor pool and manufacturing strengths in the India-U.S. corridor.
Jeh Aerospace’s founders have played a significant role in unlocking India’s potential for marquee Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) like Boeing, Lockheed, Sikorsky, GE, Pilatus, among others, over the last decade. The startup’s mission is to facilitate global tier 1 and 2 manufacturers in leveraging India’s capabilities, capacities, and cost competitiveness to develop a reliable and resilient supply base effortlessly.
The funding announcement comes as Jeh Aerospace prepares for an exciting journey in the aerospace and defense manufacturing landscape, with a commitment to responsible innovation and industry excellence.
