Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) reported a 4.23% decline in overall sales for August 2025, with total units sold at 60,501, compared to 63,175 units in the same month last year.
According to the company’s statement, domestic sales dropped to 44,001 units from last year’s 49,525 units, marking a slowdown in local demand. However, exports painted a brighter picture with 16,500 units shipped, a significant jump from 13,650 units in August 2024.
HMIL Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer Tarun Garg emphasized the company’s long-term vision. “Our goal is to establish India as a strategic manufacturing base for emerging economies and to become Hyundai’s largest export hub outside South Korea. This ambition is gaining strong traction month-on-month. Our exports grew by an impressive 21% year-on-year in August 2025,” he said.
The decline in domestic sales is seen as a reflection of current market headwinds, while the surge in exports highlights Hyundai’s expanding global footprint from its Indian operations.
