Last reviewed: 9 October 2026. Fees and benefits checked against HDFC Bank’s official Regalia Gold card page and features page, the Regalia Gold product feature change notice, the domestic lounge terms (effective 1 July 2026), the milestone terms and the HDFC Bank credit card MITC (version 4.12, September 2026).
The HDFC Regalia Gold credit card is a mid-premium travel and rewards card for people who spend roughly ₹4 lakh to ₹8 lakh a year and fly a few times annually. For ₹2,500 a year it offers reward points, quarterly vouchers, flight vouchers on bigger annual spends, domestic lounge visits tied to spending and international lounge access through Priority Pass. Two changes in 2026 matter: points are now earned per ₹200 instead of per ₹150 (from 15 May 2026), and domestic lounge access now depends on spending ₹60,000 in the previous quarter (from 1 July 2026).

What you would actually earn with the HDFC Regalia Gold credit card
Consider someone who puts ₹50,000 a month on the card, or ₹6 lakh a year, across groceries, bills, dining and some online shopping, and who redeems points for flights on SmartBuy at ₹0.50 each.
- Base points: ₹50,000 ÷ ₹200 = 250 blocks × 5 = 1,250 points a month, or 15,000 a year
- Flight redemption value: 15,000 × ₹0.50 = ₹7,500
- Quarterly milestone: ₹1.5 lakh spent every quarter, so 4 × ₹1,500 = ₹6,000 in vouchers
- Annual milestone: ₹6 lakh crosses the ₹5 lakh mark, adding a ₹5,000 flight voucher
- Gross yearly value: ₹7,500 + ₹6,000 + ₹5,000 = ₹18,500
In year one you pay ₹2,500 plus ₹450 GST, or ₹2,950, so the net value is ₹18,500 minus ₹2,950 = ₹15,550. Spending ₹6 lakh clears the ₹4 lakh waiver, so the renewal fee is waived and the full ₹18,500 stays with you in later years. This user also clears the ₹60,000 quarterly mark, so domestic lounge visits stay switched on.
At ₹30,000 a month the picture is thinner: 750 points a month (9,000 a year) worth ₹4,500 on flights, no quarterly or annual milestones, and a ₹2,950 fee because ₹3.6 lakh misses the waiver. Net value falls to about ₹1,550. Points are earned on each transaction in blocks of ₹200, so small purchases below ₹200 earn nothing.
Pros and cons
What works
- Strong milestone stack: up to ₹6,000 in quarterly vouchers plus two ₹5,000 flight vouchers a year
- Priority Pass for international lounges, which is rare at this fee level
- Reasonable 2% forex markup for a card in this bracket
- Fee waiver at ₹4 lakh is achievable for a household that runs most bills through one card
What does not
- The switch to ₹200 blocks quietly lowers the earn rate on smaller bills
- Domestic lounge access now needs ₹60,000 of spend in the previous quarter
- Best point values need SmartBuy or the Gold catalogue; plain vouchers pay only up to ₹0.35 a point
- Catalogue redemptions carry a ₹99 plus GST fee per request
- No rewards on fuel, EMI conversions, cash advances or card fees

How the HDFC Regalia Gold credit card compares
| Card | Annual fee | Fee waiver | Base earning | Lounge | Forex |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HDFC Regalia Gold | ₹2,500 | ₹4 lakh | 5 points per ₹200 | 3 domestic a quarter (spend linked), 6 international a year | 2% |
| HDFC Millennia | ₹1,000 | ₹1 lakh | 5% on ten apps, 1% elsewhere | Voucher option on ₹1 lakh quarterly spend | Confirm with bank |
| HDFC Infinia Metal | ₹12,500 | ₹10 lakh | 5 points per ₹150 | Unlimited domestic, Priority Pass abroad | 2% |
Regalia Gold sits between the two: it costs more than Millennia but pays back through milestones and travel perks, while Infinia offers far richer rewards but is invite only. If you run a business, compare it with the Business Regalia card.
Our verdict
Regalia Gold is good value if you reliably spend ₹5 lakh or more a year and redeem points for travel, because the milestones then add up to more than the points. Skip it if your spending is below ₹4 lakh, if you mostly shop on a handful of apps (Millennia pays more there), or if you want lounge access without tracking quarterly spend.
