In a significant development for the textile industry, the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) has announced that the Bharat Textile Expo, popularly known as Bharat Tex, will now be an annual event in India. This decision comes on the heels of the resounding success of the inaugural edition, Bharat Tex 2024, which concluded recently with overwhelming participation from stakeholders worldwide.
Bharat Tex 2024 saw an impressive turnout, with over 3,500 exhibitors and 3,000 buyers representing 111 countries converging at the mega textile exhibition. The event served as a platform for forging meaningful partnerships and fostering collaborations aimed at driving innovation, sustainability, and growth across the textile value chain.
During the expo, a total of 63 agreements were inked between domestic and international institutions, signaling a collective commitment to advancing research, entrepreneurship, skill development, and sustainability initiatives within the textile sector.
AEPC Chairman Sudhir Sekhri emphasized the significance of making Bharat Tex an annual affair, noting its pivotal role in catalyzing the growth and competitiveness of India’s textile industry. He underscored the industry’s dedication to adopting sustainable production practices, recognizing their importance in enhancing global competitiveness and meeting evolving consumer demands.
Highlighting the government’s vision to boost textile exports, Sekhri reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 5F mantra: Farm to Fiber, Fiber to Factory, Factory to Fashion, Fashion to Foreign. This holistic approach encompasses the entire textile value chain, emphasizing efficiency, innovation, and market access to drive India’s textile exports to new heights.
The decision to institutionalize Bharat Tex as an annual event reflects the textile industry’s resilience and determination to leverage collaborative platforms for driving sustainable growth and global competitiveness. As the industry embraces innovation and sustainability, Bharat Tex is poised to become a cornerstone event driving India’s textile sector forward on the global stage.
