Footwear giant Bata India has taken a step to make festive shopping more affordable for its customers by introducing the “Bata Price Promise” initiative. Announced on Thursday, the program allows customers to enjoy the benefits of the upcoming GST rationalisation on footwear priced below Rs 1,000 even before the official rollout on September 22.
Under this scheme, Bata has reduced prices across its outlets by 7 per cent, absorbing the difference themselves so that shoppers can enjoy immediate savings. This comes after the government announced a GST cut on footwear from 12 per cent to 5 per cent, aimed at easing costs for consumers.
Gunjan Shah, Managing Director and CEO of Bata India, said, “Our priority at Bata is to make fashion and comfort accessible to every consumer. By absorbing GST on select footwear, we are ensuring festive shopping starts early, is more affordable, and brings greater joy to our customers.”
With the festive season approaching, Bata’s initiative is expected to attract budget-conscious shoppers looking for quality footwear at reduced prices. This early adoption of the GST cut highlights the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction and accessibility, setting a trend for other retailers to follow.
