Last reviewed: 10 October 2026. Fees and benefits checked against Axis Bank’s official notice on revised Vistara credit card terms and the Axis Bank credit card MITC.
Status update: the Axis Bank Vistara credit card is not listed on Axis Bank’s current credit card page as of 10 October 2026. Vistara has merged into Air India, and Axis Bank has published revised terms for existing Vistara cardholders. The changes include a waived renewal fee and the removal of the ticket voucher benefits. This review is now written for people who already hold the card. If you are looking for a new travel card, see the alternatives further down.
The Axis Bank Vistara credit card was once a simple deal: pay ₹1,500 a year and get an economy ticket voucher back. That deal is gone. Below we set out what still works on the card, what it costs to keep, and when it makes sense to switch.
Axis Bank Vistara credit card: key facts after the merger
| Feature | Axis Bank Vistara credit card (existing holders) |
|---|---|
| Joining fee (MITC) | ₹1,500 + 18% GST |
| Annual fee (MITC) | ₹1,500 + 18% GST |
| Renewal fee now | Waived for cards due for renewal, from the next renewal cycle, until further notice |
| Points | Maharaja Points on eligible spends, under Air India’s Maharaja Club rules; the per ₹200 rate is not restated in the revision notice |
| Ticket vouchers | Welcome, renewal and milestone ticket vouchers discontinued |
| Tier membership | Complimentary Maharaja Club tier memberships discontinued |
| Lounge, golf, dining | Continue, under Axis Bank’s lounge terms for the card |
| Excluded from points | Rent, wallet loads, utilities, government services, insurance, jewellery, gold, silver, precious stones and metals, and watches |
| Forex markup | 3.5% |
| Fuel surcharge waiver | Not applicable on this card, per the MITC |
| Best for | Existing holders who want a free card that still earns airline points |
All fees and charges attract 18% GST.
What the card costs and earns now
Since Axis has not restated the earn rate for this card in its post merger notice, we cannot put a reliable rupee figure on the points. The cost side is clearer, so here is a cost example instead.
Keeping the card
- Old renewal cost: ₹1,500 × 1.18 = ₹1,770 a year
- New renewal cost: ₹0, because the annual fee is waived for cards due for renewal
- Benefit lost: the yearly economy ticket voucher that used to offset the fee
Using it badly
- Carrying ₹10,000 past the due date: 3.75% a month = ₹375, plus 18% GST = ₹442.50 for one month
- Spending ₹1,00,000 abroad: 3.5% markup = ₹3,500, plus GST = ₹4,130
So the card is now a zero fee card that still earns airline points and keeps lounge access. Its value depends on whether you fly Air India often enough to redeem Maharaja Points. If you do not, the points will simply sit unused.
Pros and cons
What still works
- No renewal fee for existing holders, as per Axis Bank’s notice
- Points continue in Air India’s Maharaja Club programme
- Lounge access, golf benefits and dining offers carry on
What does not
- No more welcome, renewal or milestone ticket vouchers, which were the main reason to hold it
- No free tier status with the airline
- Not open to new applicants on Axis Bank’s current card listing
- No fuel surcharge refund, 3.5% forex markup and a long list of excluded categories
Fees and charges
| Charge | Amount (plus 18% GST) |

| Joining and annual fee | ₹1,500 each per the MITC; renewal fee waived under the revised terms |
| Add-on card | Nil |
| Finance charges | 3.75% a month (55.55% a year) |
| Cash withdrawal fee | 2.5% of the amount, minimum ₹500 |
| Late payment fee | Nil up to ₹500 due; ₹500 for ₹501 to ₹5,000; ₹750 for ₹5,001 to ₹10,000; ₹1,200 for ₹10,001 to ₹50,000; ₹1,300 above ₹50,000 |

Eligibility and documents
Because the card does not appear on Axis Bank’s current listing, we are not quoting eligibility rules for fresh applications. Existing cardholders keep their card under the revised terms. If you want an Axis travel card today, a new application will need the usual PAN, Aadhaar and income proof (salary slips, bank statements or ITR).
How it compares with current travel cards
| Feature | Axis Vistara (existing) | Axis Vistara Signature (existing) | Axis Atlas |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fee | ₹1,500, renewal waived | ₹3,000, renewal waived | See review |
| Rewards | Maharaja Points | Maharaja Points | EDGE Miles, transferable to several partners |
| Ticket vouchers | Discontinued | Discontinued | Not applicable |
The Axis Bank Vistara Signature credit card review covers the higher variant. If you want miles that move across airlines, read our Axis Atlas review, and our best travel credit cards guide lists current options from other banks.
Our verdict
For an existing holder, the Axis Bank Vistara credit card is worth keeping as long as the renewal fee stays waived: it costs nothing, keeps lounge access and still earns Air India points. It is no longer a card to pay for, and new applicants should look at a current travel card instead. Re-check each renewal, because Axis says the waiver applies until further notice.
How to apply or manage the card
Axis Bank’s official Vistara credit card page is still online, but the card is missing from the bank’s current credit card listing. Existing holders can manage the card through the Axis Mobile app or phone banking.
