In a remarkable stride, German luxury carmaker Audi India has notched up a stellar 89% surge in retail sales, marking a total of 7,931 units in 2023 as compared to 4,187 units in the previous year, recording its highest sales volume in India since 2015.
The company attributes this astounding growth to a strategic array of factors, primarily bolstered by the success of new launches, including the Audi Q3 Sportback, Q8 e-tron, and Q8 Sportback e-tron. Simultaneously, consistent demand for the A4, A6, and Q5 models contributed significantly to this impressive milestone.
“2023 marks another successful year for us, and our diverse and desirable product portfolio continues to garner robust demand,” expressed Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India. He highlighted the company’s expansion in retail touchpoints, culminating in 64 touchpoints, including showrooms and workshops, alongside 25 Audi Approved: plus showrooms nationwide.
The upward trajectory witnessed by Audi India extends beyond new car sales; their pre-owned car business, Audi Approved: plus, experienced a remarkable 62% growth in 2023. With 25 facilities presently operational across major hubs in India, the brand aims to further expand and integrate additional pre-owned car facilities in the coming year.
Moreover, Audi’s commitment to sustainability and electrification stood out prominently. The launch of India’s first ultra-fast charging station in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, capable of delivering 360kW of power to electric vehicles, marked a significant step. This initiative aligns with Audi’s focus on sustainability, utilizing green energy and featuring a solar roof to support auxiliary electrical requirements.
While celebrating the triumphant strides, Dhillon acknowledged the potential challenges ahead, notably potential disruptions in the supply chain due to the ongoing Red Sea crisis, impacting the transportation of crucial components to India.
Despite potential hurdles, Audi India remains resolute in its commitment to maintaining this upward trajectory in 2024. Dhillon emphasized the company’s dedication to offering industry-best customer experiences and bringing forth top-tier products to the Indian market.
The firm’s success story in 2023 not only signifies a substantial business leap but also echoes the growing preference for Audi’s cutting-edge technology, sustainable initiatives, and an enticing product portfolio among Indian luxury car enthusiasts.
